The St. John's Folk Arts Council

presents

A Newfoundland Set Dance Workshop

with the Dance Doctor himself

Ford Elms

In our ongoing series of day-long workshops promoting the traditional performing arts of Newfoundland and Labrador, we're delighted to have Ford Elms present the ultimate Newfoundland aerobic workout! Who needs Jane Fonda anyway? Set dancing will get your heart rate "in the zone", and you don't even have to wear spandex, or sweat pants!!

A long time set dancing enthusiast, Ford is well versed in the dance tradition. He will help you unravel the mysteries of the basic moves of set dancing such as "through the woods" "the chain" and "sweep the floor". Ford will also lead you through the moves of some of the better known sets here in the province, such as the Cotillion, and perhaps even "The Goat"!!

There is no age limit on St. John's Folk Arts Council Workshops, but all participants must possess the unbridled desire to "get up and boogie".
