Folk Night

Folk Night happens every Wednesday night at the SHIP PUB (formerly known as the SHIP INN) on Solomon's Lane (265 Duckworth). The music goes from 9:30 pm to 12:00 am and features two sets by a solo performer or group paid from the $5 admission fee. During the breaks (and after each featured set) amateurs and professionals from the audience get up on stage to play tunes, sing songs, recite or contribute in their own unique way. The crowd is usually loaded (with musicians) and the entertainment is consistently good. There is also the opportunity to win several door prizes including CDs, tapes, T-shirts and books published here in Newfoundland.

If you are interested in performing or have suggestions on who you like to see featured at Folk Night, please contact us at folknight@nlfolk.com.

Folk Night performers need to provide us with a short bio (200 words or less preferred), links to their website, myspace page or facebook, if available, and a good quality photo for posting on the FAS website (click on "more" by the performer photos below for examples).

Love Folk Night? How about volunteering as a host or door person? We are looking for extra people to fill out our fall schedule. It's an excellent opportunity to meet other like-minded folks in the community. Great for newcomers, students looking to add experience to their résumé, and anyone who wishes to support the Folk Arts Society in providing this fantastic event each week. Please contact us at folknight@nlfolk.com or call 576-8508 if you would like to get involved!

We gratefully acknowledge the support of the following sponsors of Folk Night: The Ship Pub, Molson, Jumping Bean Coffee, Avondale Music, Breakwater Books, Aliant, and the Folk Arts Society.
