The NSGS
Photo by Rick WestAnother blast from the past is the NSGs. Standing for the Not-so-Gifted (their words not ours), the NSGs consist of some well-known faces in our community such as Clyde Rose, Paul Dean, Eleanor dawson and others. What they might lack in finesse they make up in sheer fun.

The Duane Andrews Quartet
Photo by Shelagh O'LearyDuane Andrews has received multiple awards/nominations from the Canadian Folk Music Awards, the ECMA and MusicNL and stands as one of Canada's premiere guitarists and accompanists.  His recent CD, Duane Andrews, features a fusion of Newfoundland music with the stylings of Gypsy Jazz pioneer Django Reinhardt.  Intricate, imaginative and skilled playing characterize every performance by Duane who invariably leaves audiences awed by his talent.  The other members of his quartet are all terrific musicians in their own right and are Peter Boyle (trumpet), Steve Hussey (guitar) and Dave Rowe (bass).  (website)

Dave Penny
Photo by Dawne BrownDave ("Get out your ticket stumps!") Penny, the current SJFAC President, is a popular host of Folk Night and has developed into a fine raconteur, singer and fiddle player. As a protogé of the infamous Frank Maher, he wields the four-stop accordion with an ear-to-ear grin and considerable humour. For the past several years Dave has been amassing a fine repertoire of ballads and comical songs and many will be featured in this afternoon's performance.
