The Newfoundland and Labrador Folk Festival Rainy Day Fund

The Fundraising Committee have been working tirelessly all year planning and organizing events, revising the sponsorship package, and seeking corporate sponsors. Between sponsorships, events, donations, memberships and grants, the Committee and the Board have accessed about $60,000.00 in new money for the Folk Arts Council and the Festival.

We have just received some wonderful news! St. John’s City Council has voted to give the Newfoundland and Labrador Folk Festival a grant of $20,000. Many thanks to City Councillor Tom Hann for his efforts on behalf of the Folk Festival. Thanks to CEDP and the Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism, who have provided $18,000.00 in sustaining funding to the Folk Arts Council. We are very pleased to welcome Aliant and Canadian Imperial Venture Corporation as the Newfoundland and Labrador Folk Festival’s newest sponsors.

Thanks also to you, the Festival’s faithful supporters! Because of your donations and your support for our Rainy Day Fund events, (the Gower Wassail and Outside the Box: an Accordion Revelation), the Folk Arts Council has recently been able to pay off the last of its creditors from last year’s Folk Festival. Given the uncertainty of weather in St. John’s, we feel no false sense of security! The Board and Fundraising Committee will continue to raise money for the Rainy Day Fund. You can help by making a donation, buying a membership in the Folk Arts Council, watching for and supporting Rainy Day Fund events, and by coming out to enjoy the 31st annual Newfoundland and Labrador Folk Festival!

Please contribute! Every little bit helps keep your culture living and breathing! You can make an electronic donation by pressing the button above. Or send us a donation via email. Or send a cheque to the Newfoundland & Labrador Folk Arts Council, 155 Water St., Box 6283 St. John's, NL A1C 6J9.  Or drop in to O'Brien's music store and donate there.
