New Activities in the Crow's Nest

The Crow's Nest, that well hidden bar between Duckworth and Water Streets just east of the War Memorial, opens its doors more often to the general public. It turns out to be a very suitable place for sessions. Rob Brown writes that "sessions always start at 7:30 pm on the first Monday of each month and go 'till they kick us out...maybe 11:30ish. Note that kids and less experienced players are always welcome and that the sessions are always free and there's a bit of grub served as well!"

Dale Jarvis and Delf Maria Hohmann have teamed up to perform Stories and Songs from the Brothers Grimm Collection at the Crow's Nest on Sundays at 8 pm.

Fiddle Your Summer Away!

Congratulations to Christina Smith, master fiddler selected to teach Music 2022, a first-ever course in Newfoundland and Labrador Fiddling at The School of Music. Christina brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to this course, designed to familiarize students with the rich legacy of traditional Newfoundland fiddling and to connect them directly with the instruments as they master a few jigs and reels. The School of Music will even loan students a fiddle. For more information, contact the School of Music M.O. Morgan Building or phone 737-7487.
